We are excited to announce our June Athlete of the Month, Alyssa Thomas! Thomas is currently a forward for the Connenicut Sun Women’s Basketball Team. Thomas is the University of Maryland’s all-time leader in scoring, rebounding and double-doubles for both the women’s and men’s programs, and one of only three athletes in NCAAW history with six career triple-doubles. Thomas is the only WNBA player to record five triple-doubles.

Some of her accomplishments include

• All-WNBA Second Team (2022)

• 3x WNBA All Star (2017, 2019, 2022)

• 2022 AP Comeback Player of the Year

 • EuroLeague Defensive Player of the Year (2023)

• 2x All-EuroLeague First Team (2022, 2023)

• Member of the 2022 USA FIBA World Cup Gold Medal Team

• Recorded her first-ever triple-double (and the first in Sun history) in a win over Minnesota on 7/24 with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.

• Notched back-to-back triple-doubles in Games 3 and 4 of the 2022 WNBA Finals, making her the first player to ever record a triple-double in a Finals games, the first player to record two triple-doubles in back to back games (regular season or playoffs) and the first player to record four triple-doubles in a single season in WNBA history (7/24, 8/2, 9/15 & 9/18).
